Code of conduct
The website youthweek.eu is produced and managed by young people for young people. Its objective is to inform about the activities which take place during the European Youth Week 2011.
The following guidelines apply to all persons who, directly or indirectly, work on or with the contents of youthweek.eu, including journalists, editors, editorial writers, photographers, picture editors, art directors, artists, designers, graphics editors, civil servants and researchers.
1. The information provided on the webpage is governed by journalistic standards according to the code of conduct for journalism and media in Brussels and the European Youth Information Charter.
2. The main objective of youthweek.eu is to promote the European Youth Week and the events which are organised at the local, regional, national or European level. It is also to invite visitors to participate in the preparation and implementation of events and activities, and to inform the general public of what takes place during the week and about the outcomes of the events
3. The readers and users of youthweek.eu are treated with courtesy and civility. Simple courtesy implies that we do not alienate our readers by publishing any letters and e-mails, which may in due course warrant a reply.
4. Youthweek.eu wants to inform its readers and users fairly and openly. The content is properly researched. It is our policy to correct our errors, large and small, as soon as we become aware of them.
5. Plagiarism is not tolerated. If any contributor is knowingly or recklessly providing false information, we will not publish the article in question, and will stop its publication immediately, if publication has already taken place.
6. The personal rights of everybody quoted or mentioned on youthweek.eu must be respected.
7. Persons who are quoted, interviewed or portrayed must agree to relevant content before publication takes place.
8. Articles with a discriminatory content or expressing an extreme position, which is illegal or contrary to human rights and dignity, will not be published.
9. When we use facts reported by another publication, we attribute them.
10. Youthweek.eu is a website, which serves a European purpose. The attitudes and opinions of people from other cultural backgrounds and origins are respected and considered part of European Union’s motto “United in diversity”.
