About this Site

This website is dedicated to European Youth Week 2011, taking place from 15-21 May across 33 European countries .
EYW covers all 27 EU member states, as well as Turkey, Croatia, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein – and www.youthweek.eu brings you reports on some of the 500 or so events taking place in those countries, background information and stories about the many people taking part in this exciting project.
EYW 2011 and this website are the result of an initiative taken by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Education and Culture (DG EAC).
The Commission firmly believe that issues which affect young people should be covered by young people. To this end, over 30 young journalists from the 33 countries involved in the Youth in Action programme have been commissioned to produce content that is engaging, informative and relevant to its core readership – young people themselves.
The articles you will find on www.youthweek.eu are written by those young journalists – all from different backgrounds, but joined together for this international project to cover the events in their home countries.
The international PR and events agency Team Work is responsible for the overall coordination of the website and the technical production.
The www.youthweek.eu team welcomes you and hopes you take as much inspiration from its pages as you find information within them.
